InfoSolutions is a secure medical information network created by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. Information in InfoSolutions cannot be accessed by the general public. Only authorized healthcare providers may access this information for purposes of providing medical treatment to a particular patient. Sensitive diagnoses such as mental illness and HIV can be accessed only by the healthcare provider who enters this information in InfoSolutions.
Any doctor in Alabama who enters into an agreement with InfoSolutions to comply with all applicable privacy and security laws may participate. There is no charge for participating in InfoSolutions.
Doctors authorized to use InfoSolutions may enter and store your medical information in InfoSolutions and use their computer to view it. Your doctor is responsible for obtaining any required consents from you before authorizing InfoSolutions to give other authorized medical providers access to your medical information for purposes of providing medical treatment to you. After obtaining your consent, your doctor may also view information about you stored by other authorized medical providers for purposes of providing medical treatment to you. Generally, the consent that allows your doctor to access your medical information in paper form and transfer it to other healthcare providers for purposes of providing medical treatment to you also permits authorized medical providers (including your doctor) to access your medical information in InfoSolutions for purposes of providing medical treatment to you. Allowing your doctor to access this information could lead to faster diagnosis or treatment, eliminating unnecessary tests and preventing medical errors.
If your physician is not an InfoSolutions provider, call 800 206-1054.
