InfoSolutions is a secure electronic network designed to improve the portability of patient information between health care providers.
What does it offer physicians?
Where does the information come from?
What about security?
InfoSolutions uses 128-bit encryption and may only be accessed by physicians who have signed an InfoSolutions contract and received a secure user ID and password. Only authorized medical professionals may access patients' medical information as part of treatment and care. Each healthcare provider is responsible for obtaining all required patient consents before authorizing InfoSolutions to give access to their patient information to other healthcare providers who participate in InfoSolutions for purposes of providing medical treatment to such patients. The same patient consent which allows a physician to view a patient’s information in paper form and transfer it to other physicians allows the information to be viewed through InfoSolutions. Sensitive diagnoses such as mental illness and HIV may be viewed only by the doctor who enters this information. Participating physicians receive a monthly report of all instances of access using their provider identification.
InfoSolutions maintains HIPAA privacy and security standards without impeding the patient's access to care. All InfoSolutions contracts provide that the healthcare provider will comply with all applicable federal and state privacy and security laws, including HIPAA privacy and security.
